I love a simple statement tee. It can be easily dressed up or worn with just your favorite jeans and birks. And I especially love the one featured in this post. It’s from a wonderful little Etsy shop that my friend Marybeth recently started as a platform to fund mission work.
Knowing that I wanted to feature this shirt, I began the process of thinking through the styling. Since a tee doesn’t have much shape or structure, it pairs well with a fitted pant. The black skinny pants I chose are from Old Navy and feature a high waist and a cute front split at the ankle. A great trick to add some shape is tucking the tee in on one side, which I did.
Keeping with what was turning into a black and gold look, I went with a black embossed pair of heels featuring a gold wedge and opted for gold accessories: tassel earrings from Catina Couture in Lake Charles, my favorite gold necklace previously featured here, and a gold bangle that I found at a flea market.
It would have been easy to choose a bag that was gold and black, but I wanted to break it up a bit. The Rebecca Minkoff crossbody was perfect as I find pastels can often act as a neutral in an outfit, unlike their bolder counterparts. The mint bag pops against the black without drawing too much attention. And a quality chained bag is a great way to dress up a look and add some edge. (Here are high, medium, and low priced options in similar styles.)
