I love a good neutral look. This weekend I had two showers to go to. The first was for a friend I’ve had since around second grade. She and her husband became certified to foster this past year and have added two little boys to their sweet fam. 💙💙 So along with some other awesome friends, we hosted a placement party to stock them up with board games and gift cards. We closed out the shower playing Double Ditto where you try to pick the most basic answers possible to win. Such a fun time with the best people.
Since I was helping out, I opted for more functional footwear. These Antonio Melani loafers are on MAJOR sale right now at under $35. I’m a heel person through and through, so these are my “mom shoes.” (LOL) The block heel gives me the lift while making for a super comfy and easy-going shoe. Last week at my Houston appointment, a lady in the doctor’s office commented on my shoes before being called back. They were coming out as I was going in, and I literally held up the nurse so I could show the sweet lady (who had foot surgery and couldn’t wear her stilettos anymore) how to find them online. The nurse laughed at me but said she understood because she loved shoes too. 😂
Anyhooo… back to this weekend.
Since I wasn’t hosting the second shower of the day (we can’t wait for baby Ellie🌸), I opted for a killer pair of Stuart Weitzman heels. Yes, I managed to carry Scott in the parking lot without falling. When you’re used to walking in heels, it’s really NBD. (Also wore heels up until the very end of my pregnancy, which strangers can be very opinionated about. 😒)
The only new item in this outfit is the camel sweater my mother in law gifted me at Christmas… from Kohl’s, I think. Everything else I’ve had for a while, just never paired it all together. When the weather gets warm, I say goodbye to the corduroys, so I’ve been trying to wear my grey and black pairs the past few weeks before putting them away til fall.
I think playing with texture can really elevate an outfit, which in this case I did via the pants, top, and shoes. I also like my jewelry to stand alone, so I never do big earrings with a big necklace or major bracelets. Simple is chic to me. Jeff calls this one my sabertooth tiger necklace. 🤷🏼♀️ It’s a Dillard’s clearance rack find, and I love it. 🙌🏼
Did you do anything interesting this weekend? Would love to hear about it!
